A roofing project can disrupt your daily routine, especially if you don’t know what to expect from a roof replacement or repair project. With that in mind, it’s best that you know everything you can about the project, such as the timeline.
Here is what a typical roof replacement timeline looks like.
A Few Days Before Starting
A few weeks or days before replacement day, you can expect your roofing company to send a dumpster to your home so it’ll be in place by the time the installers start the replacement project. If you’re recycling your old asphalt shingles, they might send a second dumpster as well. Apart from the delivery of dumpsters, you can also expect them to send you your new asphalt shingles for storage a few days before the project commences.
Replacement Day
Before the installation starts, you must make some arrangements. If you have pets, secure them in a single room as the replacement process may stress them out. If you have any children, meanwhile, lay down some ground rules as well so they don’t play near the work area.
At this time, take the appropriate measures to protect your home as well by storing your garden furniture to prevent them from sustaining damage. Make sure the gates are open for your contractors as well, and, if you have any special requests, let your contractor know in advance.
Depending on the roofing system, the actual replacement could take a day or a few days to complete.
After Replacement Day
One day after your roof has been replaced, your contractor will do a final walk through with you so you can check if everything was done according to your wants and needs. At this time, the contractor will also do a final sweep of your yard to look for loose nails and debris.
A few days after replacement day, your roofing company will pick up the dumpster and send a representative to do a general review of the roof as well as collect the final payment.
